It’s that time of year again when we all make New Year’s Resolutions to dream up the next best thing for ourselves. This is the time when we sit down and talk about all those things we learned throughout the previous year and the things that we’ll do better in the upcoming year.

However, how about we take a moment and think about workplace resolutions? Those resolutions that don’t resonate with you personally but would make your work-day flow much smoother and make your team much happier.

It’s not about going to the gym three times per week, but rather what you could do together with your team to build trust and a professional relationship that will keep you moving forward in every aspect.

So, why would workplace resolutions for 2025 be that important? Well, here’s a rundown for you for a healthier New Year.

The importance of workplace wellness

I believe that we’ve touched on this subject a couple of times, but workplace wellness and wellness programs have a huge benefit. Rolla is the perfect example of that, as a company and as a platform that tries to integrate a healthy work environment into other businesses.

With that being said, workplace wellness has the benefit of boosting employee morale, of increasing employee retention, and improving the overall health of your employees.

We all know that people who are active are much more productive, a lot happier in their everyday lives. They’re the people who continue to move forward even when times are tough.

Workplace wellness is the main reason for increased productivity and a decrease in healthcare costs. Can you imagine a company where you decrease the cost of health insurance simply because you took better care of your employees?

All those things are reasons why you should consider workplace wellness programs and create a list of resolutions for you and your employees.

Ideas for your workplace resolutions that will Level Up your team’s health and fitness

1. Introduce healthier habits

It’s easy to request that people eat healthier or start a healthier lifestyle at your company, but sometimes you really have to lead the way.

The simplest way you can do that is by making sure that your employees always have healthy snacks ready. For example, I’ve heard of companies that provide healthy lunches for their employees during their working hours. Some simply provide healthy snacks.

These snacks could be fruits, but they could also be a bunch of protein bars that are easy for your employees to take and continue their work.

Some other ways that you can introduce healthy habits into your workspace is by introducing walking meetings. Take a coffee to go and take a stroll around the neighborhood. Another way would be to offer standing desks for the employees that would want to stretch their legs from time to time.
All of these things could become an amazing workplace resolution for the upcoming year!

2. Organize team activities

Team activities can seem like a lot of work, but they’re definitely not. You can simply organize workouts for your team. You can do that by paying for classes that all of them can participate in, or motivate each other to go to the gym together.

But the best way? And this is in no way biased or anything - would be to organize team activities through Rolla’s leaderboards. You can set up your challenges in Health, Activities and Diet, and watch the way the eyes of your employees light up each time they realize that they’re stacking up against their colleagues in the challenges.

3. Don’t forget about mental health

One of the things that we should take better care of is our mental health, however, it seems that in the workplace we forget amongst all the deadlines and the expectations. Which is exactly why you should consider this issue when you’re making a list of workplace resolutions for 2025.

How can you do that? Well, not all of your employees will be able to communicate their issues. You can just do a couple of small things that will make their days easier.

For example, you can encourage regular breaks in the company that you work in. This means that you’ll make sure to take breaks during longer meetings, or encourage your employees to take a break when you see that they’re stressed about something.

Also, if the line of work you do allows it, you can encourage remote working days. This means that you’ll have people who are more productive in an environment that’s more welcoming to their tasks, but also that they’ll feel safer and calmer than they might be in their office.

4. Give options of personalized wellness goals

Offering personalized wellness goals is a powerful way to engage your employees and help them commit to healthier lifestyles in the new year.

People are more likely to stay motivated when their goals align with their unique preferences, needs, and circumstances. For instance, some employees might aim to increase daily steps, while others might focus on improving their sleep quality or reducing stress through mindfulness practices.

As an employer, you can support this by providing access to tools like fitness apps, wearables, or wellness platforms that allow employees to set and track individualized goals.

Encourage open dialogue to understand what matters most to them, and offer resources that cater to diverse needs, such as group fitness classes, nutritional counseling, or mental health workshops.

Personalized goals foster a sense of ownership and inclusivity, making workplace wellness initiatives more impactful and ensuring everyone feels valued and supported in their health journey.

How to make those resolutions stick?

The New Year is the perfect time for companies to renew their focus on employee wellness, but keeping these resolutions alive longer than a couple of months requires a thoughtful approach.

You can start by setting clear, achievable goals that align with your team’s needs, ensuring initiatives are realistic and sustainable. You should also encourage consistent participation by creating a culture of wellness, where healthy habits become part of the daily routine (while also introducing rewards).

This can be supported by tools like Rolla, a fitness and health platform for companies that keeps employees engaged year-round. With features for tracking activities, health metrics, and even competing in friendly challenges, Rolla makes wellness both fun and interactive. I mean, not to toot our own horn, but we are that good.

By fostering a sense of community and providing the right resources, you can turn your workplace resolutions into lasting habits, helping employees stay motivated and healthy all year long. Doesn’t that just sound like the best way to move forward?

Good luck and happy New Year!

This is more than just a partnership; it’s a commitment to improving lives. Together, we are creating a healthier, happier workplace for everyone.
